yeah have to agree with the last comment, the bank is one of my fav pubs in bristol, the real ale is the main draw, they can have over 10 guest ales a week, the bar staff are friendly and offer a tasting before buy, they know there beers, the food is great and cheep, wih an excellent sunday roast dinner, when i was there last time it was busker week and had bristol buskers playing out side for cancer research, it was great and something refreshingly different, i love this place, and funnily enough so do all the others that go back night after night

It's interesting that the only previous review is dated 2009 - where is everyone else?! I have been going to this pub when I visit Bristol from Devon for the past two years and make sure that I never miss: it's part of what makes our regular trips to Bristol so enjoyable. The posters around the place are hilarious; my husband considers himself a bit of an expert of real ales and loves the beer; the atmosphere is friendly and safe (a rare combination in Bristol!); the staff are young and delightful; Ed Lobbett, landlord extraordinaire should be in the comedy store and the food at lunchtime is excellent value and so good to eat. What more can anyone ask? I don't know who the sad sod was who wrote the review in 2009 but whoever it was, I suspect they were barred for drunk, obscene behaviour as this is not allowed! For any one out there who wants a quirky pub with good beer, fun varied company and a lively atmosphere, The Bank is the place for you!

This pub should be removed from the current good beer guide, for the poor quality of it's beer, the rudeness of it's staff and the fact it can shut over a hour earlier than the advertised time.
