the pub is now under new management Celeste from bar 26 is the proud boss, she is about to upgrade the pub in the comming weeks if not months ,upstairs will be opening again after being neglected for a year or two prices very reasonable 2pnds for carling and heavy, kareoake every sat in bar, also very busy, the gay scene has more or less depleted come and see for yourself, very friendly and everyone welcome and would be treated with friendly staff.downstairs may be a mans pub but you try telling that to the girls on a saturday night, cant wait till upstairs opens,it will be like the good old days.

I recently passed this pub (on the way to Hottenanny) with a group of friends and noted that it was under new managment - so we popped into the upstairs area for a pint & a look arounds (as it was having an openiong/birthday party) - it's still a pokie (small) wee place but it seems to have moved to be errrr "gay friendly" with a few studnets (lots of girls in denim shirts with short hair and blokes with shaved heads (also a few "bloke" blokes milling around) - nothing wrong with the £gat" thing. live and let live etc, but just a total change from the rather more drab cleintele in the past - It may not be my cuppa tea but the new owner is at least having a go at changing this once dour little pub (downstairs still seems to be a basic blokes bar. I miss the foul mouthed DJ though!

I doubt the casual drinker would be attracted to enter this bar, but just in case someone was thinking about it then think again. Very cleeky and seems to be a local for the adjoining area despite its central location. The 1/4 Gill is split into 2 areas, the bar downstairs (typical Glasgow "mans" pub but can attract dodgy characters) and the very small upstairs "disco" area which is simply surreal (posibly gaining cult status among the rgulars). The DJ swears like a trooper (his customers seem to be friends / regulars & to be fair seem to have a great time) and he is funny...... for a time. However heads turn as you enter if your not "local" in a scene reminiscent of the League of Gentlemen. Drinks selection is ok but not great but it is VERY cheap you'd need a drink to stay longer than30 mins. The bar staff are ok. If you're not a local or are new to the city it's best to avoid.
