This pub is in an excellent position but it suffers from the same restrictions on trade that over half the pubs in the country suffer from. It's tied. The pub has changed hands 5 or 6 times in recent years and whilst the trade has stayed reasonably constant, the tenants in occupations have consistently done in their lot, battered into submission by the greed of the rapacious pubcos that own the freehold and force extortionate rents and beer prices on unsuspecting occupiers. The tenant in there now will soon follow suit and so will his savings in the process. Camberwell residents deserve better but they are not likely to get it until Government undertake urgent reform of the pubcos and the feudal beer tie arrangement.
