This certainly isn't a student pub! I don't know any students that can afford £4 upwards for drinks! Like the review below I would certainly recommend The Albert, King and Queen (both in the vicinity of this place) for value for money or the Blind Tiger for live music!

This place is incredibly EXPENSIVE and has a real cheek advertising itself to the student market! Venture a bit further down and you will find nicer pubs that won't try and rip you off..

This place used to be the best alternative pub in Brighton. However, a recent change in management has sent this place into the ground. Most of the decent staff are gone and the atmosphere is nothing like it used to be. If you're in this area, and looking for a decent pub, I can recommend The Druids, The Caroline of Brunswick or The Albert. These places are also where you'll find most of the ex-customers from The Hobgoblin.

RIP Hobgoblin. It was a good pub, once.

Large pub mainly full of the Goth/Greebo type crowd. Often has live music. Has a very large back garden.

Open until 2am at the weekend.
