Was in the West Gate yesterday. There were eight handpumps, but only one with a beer clip on. Someone ahead of me asked for a pint of that, only to discover that it had just run out. So all eight handpumps were non-operative!!! The bar staff put it down to excessive demand in the previous few days, mostly due to the Christmas market. But this market has been here in Bath for several years now, always at the same time of year. I'm 64 and have never experienced such appalling mismanagement in a pub before. Whoever is responsible should be ashamed of him/herself. Needless to say we won't be returning. David.
