This pub usually does one good cask ale (old hooky) + one other ale. Always a large selection of lagers. In my opinion has good music (no duke box) chosen by the bar staff - indie/rock/hip hop/modern electronica. Chilled out atmosphere on week nights and jam packed full of 'young adults' at the weekend. Surprisingly (and refreshingly) student free! Probably because the prices are at the more expensive end of the Cowley Rd prices but then this isn't a 'Scream' bar owed by a big brewery, its a nice little free house with a great atmosphere. Love it!

Wonderful!

The atmosphere there is very nice and friendly, sort of like everybody knows each other. For all I know, maybe they do! I've only ever been there twice, the second time being the very next day because I enjoyed it so much!

The first time I went there was to see the local band Ute perform, so I'm sure they have some great evenings of live music. It turned out that they had played a few hours before hand and I was about to go but decided to stay for one pint... (as everyone says at first!) I ended up getting to know crowds of people, along with the two friends who I was with.

It happened to be the night of the pub quiz which was great fun. If you were the first person to submit the right answer you would get a free drink and be allowed to play a small tune on the xylophone. It may sound kind of silly but everyone was out to have a laugh - which I'm sure they did have!
